Privacy Policy

Rouse does not operate an account or server for collecting your app data. Apple handles alarm scheduling and subscriptions through system services. Rouse includes no analytics or advertising tracking. This policy explains what that means in practice.
Who is responsible
Rouse is made and published independently by a developer based in Norway. Questions about privacy can be sent through the support page.
What Rouse stores, and where
The app data Rouse stores lives on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. Rouse does not send that app data to a Rouse server, and I have no way to read it. It consists of:
- Your alarms: times, repeat days, labels, chosen missions and difficulty.
- A record of which mission was used recently, so the app can vary them.
- Whether a mission is currently owed, so an alarm that rang while the app was closed is not forgotten.
- A bounded history of schedule read-backs and alarm lifecycle observations, such as when AlarmKit was observed alerting or when a follow-up schedule failed.
- Small preferences, such as whether you have completed the introduction and whether you have seen the alarm-volume explanation.
Rouse does not keep a server copy of this app data. You can choose Send diagnostics in Settings to create a local text report and share it with a destination you select in Apple's share sheet. Rouse does not upload or send that report automatically. Apple system services may separately handle information needed for scheduled alarms or purchases under Apple's policies.
Motion and step data
If you choose the Walk mission, Rouse asks iOS for access to Motion & Fitness. This is used for one purpose: counting your steps while the mission is on screen, so the app knows when you have finished it. Shake reads the iPhone's motion sensors directly and does not need this access.
Motion and step data is read live while the mission is running and used only to advance the counter on screen. It is not written to disk, not retained after the mission ends, and not transmitted anywhere.
You can decline this access, or revoke it later in Settings › Privacy & Security › Motion & Fitness. Declining it means the Walk mission is unavailable; the Math and Shake missions still work and the rest of the app is unaffected. If you want to allow access later, Rouse provides a button that opens its page in Settings.
Alarms and notifications
Rouse schedules alarms through AlarmKit, an Apple system framework. Rouse hands iOS the information needed to deliver each alarm. Apple system services control delivery and any system-owned data associated with the alarm.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Rouse never sees your name, payment card, billing address or Apple Account details. The app asks Apple one question, whether an active subscription or trial exists on this device, and receives a yes or no. That answer is verified on the device itself; Rouse does not operate a server for subscription verification.

What Rouse does not do
- No accounts, sign-in, or email collection.
- No analytics, crash reporting, or usage measurement.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifier (IDFA).
- No third-party SDKs of any kind. Rouse contains only Apple frameworks and its own code.
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no data shared with data brokers.
- No location access. Rouse never asks for it and cannot use it.
Rouse does not operate a data-collection server. Rouse does not sell or share app data with advertisers or data brokers, and Rouse does not build a profile of you.
Your rights
Data protection law, including the GDPR as it applies in Norway and the EEA, gives you rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data held about you. Rouse does not hold a server copy of the app data described above. The data stored by Rouse on your iPhone is under your control.
Children
Rouse is not directed at children and Rouse does not collect information through its own services from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Rouse ever starts collecting anything, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app's release notes rather than made quietly. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
